About Nicoline:

As long as she can remember she always wanted to draw. At school she designed the schoolpaper and posters for the school dance. Later she painted on jackets, t-shirts, car hoods, doors etc. She customized anything! After highschool she wanted to go to artschool in Amsterdam. But her parents thought this was too much Rock & roll for their young daughter. So they decided on a more conservative business study. After this study and several unsatisfying jobs, she decided to go to the Amsterdam art school anyway. She choose for the traditional painting side of the education. From here on she also started working as a illustrator/ designer for an advertising company. In her spare time she kept painting and getting more and more customers ordering personal paintings.

For her final school exam in ’99 she decided to convince the examcommission by showing them the learned techniques in her most personal way. She loves machines and even sees beauty in the mess they can create. Rust, dust, oil, old unused tools or well used tools, she sees poetry in it all and translates this perfect to the canvas in rich coloured oilpaints . Needless to say the commission was convinced. After the exam she stopped her day job en concentrated on full time painting.

The pin up style she is doing currently evolved from a painting of a workshop with a pin up calendar hanging in the back. She started reading books about the pin ups on the noses of second world war bomber airplanes. She especially loves the way the 40’s pin ups were portrayed, sweet, a bit naughty but still classy. Sexy but not slutty. Inspired by the customcar/biker art, Low brow art (as published in magazines as Juxtapoz) and cartooning her style is constantly evolving. The girls first appeared on classic bikes, but are allredy seen hanging around and even on the DBBP bike. As she used the gastank of the bike as canvas for one of here delicious creatures. Is this the beginning of a great new series?
